Looking Back

Published by Danny under Uncategorized

My wife suffered pain and depression as a result of Cushing’s Disease, a disease of the endocrine system. Here is her story. To begin with it is an honor for me to introduce this book to you. Though there were some trying times, God blessed us immensely through the course of Rebecca’s affliction with Cushing’s Disease. Probably the greatest blessing for me has been to see how God has utilized my wife for His glory. Looking back, we would hate to think that we could have passed through life without having experienced some of these trials.

While being treated for endogenous depression, Rebecca spoke often to me about wanting to offer an understanding ear for others experiencing depression. Through her daily course of activities, God gave her those kinds of opportunities. During that time, she also kept a daily journal to help identify patterns in her own depression. Later, while writing this book, her journal proved to be an invaluable resource. Rebecca’s inspiration to write this book grew out of the circumstances surrounding her depression; it has been obvious that God’s hand was in it.

Rebecca wrote this book for those undergoing trials such as hers and for Christians who may have the opportunity to comfort them. It is my hope, as it is Rebecca’s, that this book will be used by God to meet a need, to increase understanding, or to provide comfort in the lives of others. I sincerely hope that this book will underscore our need for total surrender to Him as well as motivate us to respond to His calling daily.

“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life,

nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present,

nor things to come, nor power, nor height, nor

depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able

to separate us from the love of God, which is in

Christ Jesus our Lord (NASB).” (Romans 8:38-39)
